Archaeology

Well I have noticed a LOT of Archaeology (Arch) guides popping up all over the place, so I have decided that I would take a stab at one myself. I am 525 in Arch, and as I write this I am flying all over Kalimdor working on my trinket, well actually I am working on my staff, but there is only one area that you can dig up Tol`vir fragments, and that is Uldum, so I am going to get my trinket long before my staff I would imagine (currently the only non-common I have left with Night Elves is the trinket, so it shouldn`t be too long now *crosses fingers*). But enough about my Arch (and the evidence that I have too much time on my hands?), my "guide" continues after the break!

OMG THE TRAFFIC!

A big thank you to MMOMelting Pot for placing my blog in one of their latest "blog roundups," if you had ACTUALLY been here prior to that happening, you can find the whole article here. Yesterday my traffic through my site (according to the atrocious built in stats page of blogger) from a whole 10 views, to 48 today, as of this post. I have also picked up a 4th follower! HURRAY!

I am really excited about this (kind of, however it does mean that I really need to blog on a regular basis now!).
And P.S. yes I am a real boy! (joke: they had me listed as a "she" until Janyaa corrected them!)

I don't Heal; I stand there and Regen!

Well I have been 85 for about 5 days now. I stayed up all night, and all day leveling, mostly through dungeon grinds. I actually didn't hit it before I hit my pillow, but I did go back later to grind some experience in Uldum (my entire 84-85 actually). We had a slow start, we had a group figured out to burn through dungeons quick, and I think we would have been looking at some server first 85s if we could have got it to work out, however our planned tank had troubles logging, and our third DPS passed out (not drunk, just exhausted from his rediculous workout regime), so we had to replace. Now we all know the problem with replacing when you have things all planned out: things change. We ended up spending so much time replacing people as they decided they couldn't handle our 24 hour grind, that we lost a lot of time. I am actually in retrospect a little happy about that because otherwise I would not have got to experience how much fun questing was, and probably would have put it off longer than I have. Now that I have you all (my whole 3 followers!) caught up, I'm going to get to the "meat and potatoes" of this post: Healing.

BUBBLES!

With the release of 4.0.3a I have found myself facing the biggest change to my healing rotation as I have ever faced as a Discipline Priest. Okay, lets face it, discipline was a pretty simple spec to play decently, it was pretty much Power Word: Shield spam. In order to be good at it, you had to get better at using your cooldowns (Power Infusion, Pain Suppression, and more recently Power Word: Barrier) and to be great at it, you had to be able to use your class extremely well, all the CDs and abilities you have to their fullest, know your spec'ing, etc. (just like every class), but things have changed.

THE COUNTDOWN!

Ok so I am hoping to get a real blog post up in the next few days, but here's something I am REALLY excited to post.

Out of the "Blogging Closet"

Well thanks a LOT Janyaa :

"
Mori, when are you going to unveil yours? I've been holding my tongue, trying to respect your sense of timing and let you do it when you're ready...but it's killing me!

hehe <3 you

Frustrations of Heroic Professor Putricide

Well we put in attempts last night on H PP. We didn't down him. I found the night very frustrating for two reasons, and no, neither of them had to do with the mechanics, I really do enjoy the fight (although getting targeted by a green ooze, which then bounced me beside an orange ooze, which then targeted me, was a little frustrating). The first, myself and four other guildies started running the "pre-cataclysm-lore-bosses" (you know, the new bosses that are available after defending the capital cities? I don't know what to call them!). We were locked out of ICC for 45minutes past start time, because we had entered "too many instances". None of us had even thought about this issue, after all ICC isn't something you think of as an instance, you think of it as a Raid (or I do anyways). Well that was frustration number one. Self-inflicted. Learn from your mistakes. My apologies for holding up the raid (honestly, I felt and still do feel really bad about it, I was wasting the time of 20 other raiders)

Frustration number two? Well, we had taken a "ready check vote" last Wednesday on whether to extend or not. Apparently one of our raiders didn't get the memo that extending meant not doing the bosses we have on farm, and instead, well, extending our raid lockout (pretty self explanatory to me). This raider, decided that rather than saying, "well you know what, I am sorry but I am not up to this, good luck, let a standby DPS take my spot," they would instead not focus on their role, wait for a res after every wipe (even though the Raid Leaders made it very clear we were to release and run back immediately after a wipe), and AFK every ready check (so the Raid Leader actually had to come on mumble and ask if they were ready). Honestly this is one of the most frustrating things I have experienced since joining Jubilance. We are an extremely low drama guild. We have since I have joined only had one issue of drama. We have also had two "rage /gquits", but those really aren't drama, they're just "/facepalm.....really?" I dont' intend to offend anyone in my guild by this post. It is not intended to "air dirty Jubi Laundry", or stir things up, or even to make a vocal complaint. I am just using this post as both a way to vent (a cathartic release for those of you who put any faith in Freud's theories, which I don't), and as a way of explaining to any of my readers, how frustrating it is, to drag someone through a progression boss, that doesn't want to be there. I think any guild out there would rather bring in a "bench warmer" then go through this.

As an added note, I am not actively "hiding" this blog at all. One of my friends from Jubi (Janyaa) came across it, and has since posted  a link to it on Muradin Musings . So once I get a few more things off my plate and take the time to make this blog "prettier" I will make an "official announcement post" to my guild on the Jubilance Forums .

That Elusive 1%

Read First

Original Post, I warn you, there are a lot of irrelavent posts in here, I am only really interested in the Ghostcrawler responses with respect to this discussion

I came across this post a Long time ago, and as soon as I decided I was going to start a blog I knew I wanted to do something with respect to it. Basically the important information I took from it, was completely different then the poster's original intent with the post. I took away that the arbitrary 1% dps/healing/threat/survivability increase was a pretty poor excuse for taking a skill.

The Advantage of Knowledge

So I ran my usual Alt run today. Every Saturday (well...ok not every, but I swear I have been trying...), I run an alt run for our guild. There was a lot of talk that we needed a second raid group, as many of us have alts, and we have a lot of people that don't necessarily get into our progression runs, that if nothing else we need to keep warming our benches for when a regular doesn't show up (of course we also enjoy their company, but I'm being pragmatic here!), so Andvari (our main tank until he went skiing! shame on RL for getting in the way of raiding), asked me if I would be interested in putting one together with him. Well apparently it quickly turned into Mori's Alt run.
TL:DR, I ran my Alt run today.

Continuing Progression Until Cataclysm

Well it has been a few days since my last post, and I found a bit of time to start another one. It seems that no one has come across this blog yet, which is just as well with me, as I am not entirely comfortable with my "blogging abilities yet". I am going to continue my blog today with a bit of a discussion about our raiding in the final weeks leading up to the new expansion.

My First Post

Well this is my first blog post ever. I blame Janyaa for starting me down this path, I was quite fine never publishing a blog (although I had the occasional interest, it was never worth my time to actually do anything about it). Ever since
Muradin Musings started getting all this attention on other blogs, Janyaa just can't stop talking about her blog (<3 you) and the constant discussion of it has really pushed me into this. This first post will just be to introduce myself a bit, and maybe talk a bit about the loose bounds that I am going to keep this blog to.
